ABSTRACT RNA-seq analysis of Cupriavidus necator NH9, a 3-chlorobenzoate degradative bacterium, cultured with 3-chlorobenzaote and benzoate, revealed strong induction genes encoding enzymes in degradation pathways the respective compound, including to convert benzoate chlorocatechol catechol, respectively, ortho-cleavage pathway for conversion central metabolites. The transporters, components stress response, flagellar proteins, chemotaxis proteins showed altered expression patterns between benzoate. Gene Ontology enrichment that chemotaxis-related terms were significantly upregulated by compared 3-chlorobenzoate. Consistent this, semisolid agar plate assays, NH9 cells stronger than These results, combined absence related uptake/chemotaxis located closely 3-chlorobenzoate, suggested has not fully adapted utilization chlorinated unlike nature.
